“I want to thank the Unsung Heroes of the Pandemic in my local area of Napa Valley but all across America. As we recover, we need to respond by showing more love, more compassion, more seeking to serve rather than being served in this moment of a new beginning for us all. As Corinthians reminds us: no matter what we do, if it’s not done in LOVE, we are nothing but clanging cymbals.
I want to dedicate “Napa Crossroads Overture” to these unsung heroes. This was the first song written for the Napa Crossroads album while David Benoit and I stayed at Jeff & Valerie Gargiulo’s GV winery in Oakville to kick start the project. I love that David B. has gone on to perform it with symphonies all over America including the LA Phil at Disney Hall. I hope one listen to this will re-inspire you today amidst all the challenges we now face. David and I wrote it imagining we were gliding on the wings of eagles soaring above the vineyards and taking in the majesty of the beauty here. And we remember our friend Ray Manzarek who lived here for the last 10 years of his life, with wife Dorothy. His spirit is soaring in this piece as well.”
